WordPress Dictionary – Human

I have seen myself in need of learning WordPress concepts since 0 and of course, we all have doubts at the beginning. When I heard my coworkers talk about these terms, it sounded like elvish or black tongue to me. So, Let's understand some terms and concepts so that we all speak a common language.

CMS or content manager

If you have entered this world, you will already know that WordPress is a CMS or content manager. And of course, I think it's great, but what does it mean?

A CMS andIt is a software tool to create, administer and manage a website. Come on, it is the platform to be able to create the web from scratch, change everything you need on the web and make the web last over time. And the most important of this, users can be created so that they can work on the same website at the same time. Well, and that you can install plugins that do things.

Plugin

The plugins They are software that add functionality to our website. From plugins that reinforce security (iThemes, Sucuri or Wordfence), create a contact form (Contact form 7), create a store (WooCommerce), or whatever you want, the sky is the limit as far as plugins are concerned.

Hosting, accommodation or server

Hosting in Spanish means accommodation, that is, the space where someone stays or something is placed. For example, if you have a photo on your mobile, you know that it is in the Gallery and then in the Camera or WhatsApp folder, depending on whether you took the photo or if it was passed to you.

On the web, images, texts and other files needed for the web to work have to be somewhere, well there it is. Basically, it is someone else's computer that is always on and connected to the Internet so that your website is alive.

Domain

Is unique and unique name given to a website so that anyone can visit it. If you want to go to your friend's house, who has just moved, you have to ask him for the address, because your computer is the same. as if you want go to the great mowomo website, you have to go to the address mowomo.com or to the hyperlink that I just left you.

Templates and themes

I'm putting up with a lousy joke about shoes. One issue is the structure and appearance on which it is based a webpage wordpress and a template is the layout of a single page on the website. Pages are similar to posts and have associated titles, body text, and metadata, but are different in that are not part of the blog-type chronological sequence, are kind of permanent entries. Pages do not have categories or tags, but they can have a hierarchy.

Metadata

This is one of the more global WordPress concepts, but since it is so important, it deserves its space. They are a data set describing other data. This is how the Google search engine shows you the images of the word that you have put. If you put "Soccer ball", all the images that have in their metadata "Soccer ball" are the ones that match your search.
