It has been 13 years since, through the mediation of a colleague, I had the pleasure of learning about WordPress. After having tried different types of content managers, some very complicated, others too simple, a system that was much easier to handle and at the same time flexible when programming on it was demanded.

Back in 2005 we met version 1.5 of WordPress.

This version, as usual, had the name of a jazz musician, which was accompanied by the default theme, nothing special, the colors were changed and you already had a blog.

Later then the topic came Kubrick dedicated to the film director, something more customizable and later the themes were named with the name of the year in English, if I remember correctly, starting with the twenty ten, although I personally continued to use the theme as a base Kubrick some more time

The following versions of WordPress were still dedicated to a legendary Jazz musician, due to the love of this music of its creator Matt Mullenweg.

It was precisely in this version, 1.5, when it began to evolve towards what it is today, incorporating several improvements, such as static pages, with this it was no longer just a blog to become a content manager.

Personally, I am very grateful to Matt for bringing his project to life, but at the same time, I am also very grateful to the community for their involvement and dedication to improving the code in each new version.

In this coming-out, WordPress is left with 30% of the websites on the entire internet and if we compare it with content managers, it has a share of 60%, beating Joomla, Drupal or PrestaShop itself, very popular for a long time. a few years, who hold the lowest positions.

A few years ago, when we proposed to a company to create a site with WordPress, they were reluctant since they thought it was a system for blogging only, or because it was "free" they would take them less seriously, we even had a client who made us modify everything the administrator so that it did not "look like" WordPress.

Fortunately, times have changed and large companies use WordPress for their online sites, for example from companies like Ferrovial, Festina o Mercedes Benz included The White House has opted for WordPress

We wish WordPress many improvements and continue to enjoy its open source for many more years.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
